Meet the Therapist
Kim Garrett, MS, LPC, PMH-C
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas, I have a passion for working with grief and loss and more than a decade of experience in that field. I also love to help clients navigating the emotions and identity shifts of parenthood or starting a family.
I know that finding a therapist can be stressful.
How will I know if I’ve found the right one?
With me, you will find that tears are welcome but laughter is too, sarcasm is appreciated (some of my favorite people use humor as a coping mechanism), and I love the opportunity to use a good metaphor. I appreciate building a strong foundation with my clients so that you may be able to hear it when I point out your contradictions or challenge your thinking.
I believe that you are the expert in your own life, but I also think that if things were working, you wouldn’t be coming to see me. We will collaborate to build your personal insight into the why behind your behaviors so that, with this insight, you can work to form more positive coping habits that allow you to access joy and feel the entire spectrum of your emotions.
My clients appreciate that I bring my humor into session, give direct feedback, and maintain a warm and positive energy, even when we are talking about tough topics. I am not afraid to sit in the mess with you as we figure things out together.
Sound like we might be a good fit? Have more questions?
